4 Fun Outdoor Games for Kids

Kids these days are so used to playing with electronic gadgets like Nintendo DS, PSP, iPhone and iPad which can affect their brain and behavior. In this computer age, we often forget the importance of playing outdoors. It is a lot more fun, refreshing and relaxing. I am listing my daughter's favourite outdoor games with her dad. I do play with her too but i get tired too easily. I can't keep up with her hyper-activeness, i'm getting old. Lol! The following photos were taken during our Christmas Staycation at City Beach Resort.

1) Scissors, paper, stone ~ Game mechanics depends on the condition of the players.

2) Habulan (Translation: Catch me if you can. Lol!) ~ Catch daddy then it will be daddy's turn to catch her.

3) Langit at Lupa (Heaven and Earth) ~ Get daddy to land on earth and it's her turn to be in heaven. Lol!

4) Karate Kid and The Master ~ whoever falls loses the game.

“Without continuous hands-on experience, it is impossible for children to acquire a deep intuitive understanding of the natural world that is the foundation of sustainable development. ….A critical aspect of the present-day crisis in education is that children are becoming separated from daily experience of the natural world, especially in larger cities.” -Natural Learning, Creating Environments for Rediscovering Nature’s Way of Teaching, Robin C. 1. love the message in your post Che, if the natural world is walled off from kids, it's harder for them to grasp the understanding of ecosystem where love and respect abounds. nature is one great teacher.

  3. I grew up playing those games and am telling you I will never trade those games with all these computer games our kids have ! The habulan is my most favorite game as a kid, I was small and skinny and I ran fast, so my opponent spent longer time trying to catch me and she would get tired and backout of the game hahahah

  5. You are so right, children should be playing outside in the sunshine. As a child most of my playtime was outside and rarely in the house. Wonderful post, have a great weekend!
