Asian Civilisations Museum Open House

Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM)
It was another Kyla's day last Saturday, 9 June 2012. We went to check out the ACM Open House.

Reception | Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM)
ACM is located at Empress Place, right across the Cavenagh bridge. We arrived in time for the guided interactive tour registration.

Museum Shop | Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM)
We had an hour and a half to wait for the scheduled guided interactive tour so we took the time to explore the museum. I love this shop full of art pieces and souvenir items.

Kampong Life Art Exhibit | Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM)
We also went to see the Kampong (village) Life art exhibition.

As stated on the information provided, it highlights the quintessential yet vanishing kampongs in parts of Lorong Buangkok and Pulau Ubin - both remote and rare parts of our urban city. Kyla was in awe with the paintings.

After touring around, we joined the fun-filled activities.

FIRST STOP: Fun Tattoo Station

Mommy, are are we going there to learn about wars in the past? Kyla asked when I informed her we are going to ACM.  Little did she know there were fun-filled activities waiting for her. We are going there to join the The Amazing Adventures of Marco Polo. I replied. Whaaaat!!! Wow!!! Really??? I have read about the adventures of Marco Polo in my Geronimo Stilton book mommy!!! It was exciting!!!

She absolutely loves museums now. Need I say more? :)

SECOND STOP: Royal Dress Up Station

Though she loves dressing up, she wasn't very enthusiastic about the Royal Dress Up just next to the Fun Tattoo station.

However, mommy forced her to give it a go for the sake of photo taking. Haha!

THIRD STOP: Children's Craft Activity Room

What made her say yes? I promised to take her to the Children's Craft huge activity room after.

ACTIVITY #1: Shadow Puppet Making
Shadow Puppet Making | Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM)
Kyla loves arts and crafts. She was asked to create a Wayang Girl shadow paper-cut puppet with barbeque stick.

ACTIVITY #2: Pottery Painting
Pottery | Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM)
The kids were asked to mold their own clay. The craft was meant to unleash their creativity.

The kids' pottery finished products were lined up for cooking at the oven toaster. Kyla has been doing this secretly at home, just found out recently. Not that we forbid her though. We just need to ask her to be extra careful because she might burn her hands.

After cooking, they had fun painting their masterpieces. Kyla created a replica of the lotus-inspired ArtScience Museum. She painted the based with green and the lotus petals in orange because the pink paint (her first choice) was already empty.

FOURTH STOP: Shaw Foundation Foyer for The Ramayana Show
Shaw Foundation Foyer | Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM)
The Ramayana show features traditional silat, gamelan and breakdancing. Kyla enjoyed it extremely that she wanted to watch the show again after the guided tour. Too bad we ran out of time.

FIFTH STOP: The Amazing Adventures of Marco Polo Guided Interactive Tour

I will have to ask you to wait for my next post. :)
