Fishing and Prawning at Bottle Tree Park

Bottle Tree Park | Singapore
Every time we pass by this place which is located between Khatib and Yio Chu Kang MRT station, I always tell the hubby I want to check it out because it looks so much like its somewhere in my province.

Today, hubby and I were both on leave from work so we decided to celebrate Father's Day in advance. Since he always let me decide where to go, I finally thought of going to Bottle Tree Park.

Kyla saw some children fishing when we arrived and she got really excited. Expectedly, she wanted to try it herself.

Payment Counter | Bottle Tree Park
She paid S$10 to uncle and she was given with a little fishing net (to be returned to the vendor at the end of the fishing session) and a little fish tank. Pellets are also available for S$1, you can use it to feed the tiny fishes and use it as a bait.

Kyla had a hard time catching the fishes initially. "Mommy, ang kukulit ng mga fish ayaw magpahuli!", she exclaimed. LOL! How do I translate that? (closest translation: the fishes are so naughty mommy, they won't let me catch them!)

Parents were not supposed to help but since we saw some parents helping their children, daddy went to rescue Kyla while baby Gian and I watch in delight.

Here's daddy's first catch for the day! It made Kyla go wow then she challenged herself to catch more.

Daddy's turn to babysit Gian while Kyla is busy catching fishes (can you spot her?) and mommy is... aherm... obviously busy with her camera. *winks*

"Mommy, look! I finally caught one!" Awwww, that smile is priceless!

Almost every few minutes, she comes to brag about the number of fishes she caught.

It was her first time fishing yet she managed to get a grip of the fun activity in no time.

Look how proud she is! Great job, big girl! Jiayou!

Take a closer look at her harvest! Fishes available for fishing are Red Guppy, Ribbons, Swordtail, Goldfish and Pacu. I know, those fishes are poor little thing but fret not because they will swim in a bigger fish tank later.

Just wanted to show you the biggest fish I saw at the pond. LOL!

In case you are wondering, yes I did gave it a shot too! That's me showing off my first catch to Kyla after few attempts. Fishing ain't easy but I managed to catch around 10 fishes. Kyla caught twice as much as I did.

Since all of us were first timers, we can't leave the fishing area without a photo memoir. Baby Gian must be wondering what are we all smiling about. Haha! What a fun way to celebrate Father's Day though it was more like another Kyla's day. Hehehe!
Prawning Area | Bottle Tree Park
Opposite the Long Kang (drain) fishing area is the prawning area.

So tempted to try prawning because you get to grill and eat your harvest on the spot but it looks more challenging than fishing.

For S$14.50 per hour; rods, baits and nets are provided. Electric BBQ grill is available at no cost (next to uncle's counter) but no seasoning is allowed on the grill.

We will definitely come back again! Kyla didn't say goodbye when we left. She said ILY instead, complete with a flying kiss. LOL! I will show you more of the Bottle Tree Park in another blog post to come. It is such a cool place. (Description borrowed from a young couple who also came to check out the place). There's painball park, RC race circuit, swan ride, lotus plantation, fishing area for adults, vegetable garden, bar and bistro, seafood restaurants and many more!

SAD UPDATE: Bottle Tree Park has CLOSED DOWN.
