Disney's Hollywood Hotel

Hotel Feature/Review

Disney's Hollywood Hotel is housed inside the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort along with Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel .

When hubby asked me to book for a hotel for our Hong Kong Escapade, I called the Hong Kong Disneyland reservation centre and was overjoyed when I learned they have an early bird promotion. Hubby agreed with the price so I confirmed the hotel booking on the same day. When the booking confirmation was sent to me via email, I was surprised that we were booked at Disney's Hollywood Hotel instead of Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. I called them back to say I intended to book for the latter but was informed that the latter was more expensive and that Disney's Hollywood Hotel actually caters more to families with young kids. Since we have young kids and we were on a limited travel budget, I just accepted the confirmation.

This is what greeted us when we arrived at the hotel. It took us around 15 minutes to reach the hotel via taxi ride. If you take train, it will take you 30 minutes or so (not so sure about the walking time from train station to the hotel premises.)

The hotel lobby was spacious and bright. Loved the tall glass windows and high ceiling. Perfect for claustrophobic peeps.

The "Hollywood" front desk will make your check in fascinating. I loved that we don't have to wait to be served. Maybe because it's past the normal check in time.

This was the spectacular view from our room. When I booked the early bird promotion, I was informed that our room has a garden view. It turned out we had a view of both the garden and the Lantau beach. In short, we had the best of both worlds.

The room was surprisingly small though compared to the room we had at Harris Resort Waterfront. Nevetheless, the kids loved all the Mickey Mouse stuff inside the room. K loved the cute towel animals while baby G loved the Mickey Mouse show aired on TV.

This area was almost left untouched by us. There's a wifi but it's not free.

If you want free wifi connection you have to go to the lobby. I'm not so sure if this nook (above photo) was intended for display or for guests use. Since we were on a short vacation, we decided to just stay offline all through out our stay so it didn't really matter to us with or without free wifi. Just thought it was a bit  inconvenient for those who wish to use internet in the comfort of their rooms.

Back to the room, this is the pantry and wardrobe right opposite the rest room. Remember my Harris Resort review where I mentioned you can bring your whole house because they have a huge wardrobe? Well, as you can see in the photo above, the wardrobe is too teeny tiny.

The rest room isn't a disappointment on the other hand as it was clean and spacious enough. K finds the Mickey paper cup and the Mickey shower gel and shampoo dispenser too cute.

Mickey is basically visible everywhere in the hotel premises. Loved this huge Mickey mirror opposite the Studio Lounge.

There are Mickey Mouse statues too found right before the lift to the guestrooms.

Even the benches in the garden are Mickeyfied. K couldn't stop saying so cute!

My sister said there used to be vintage Californian cars parked around this Hollywood sign. Not sure if they are taken out permanently or temporarily.

Baby G had fun time splashing in the pool area though it was considered pretty small compared to other hotels we've been to like Flamingo by the Beach, Harris Resort and Bintan Lagoon.

This is how the Piano Pool look like when it's empty at night. I wouldn't have noticed the piano if I didn't take this photo.

The playground surrounded by greens was still in good shape. I remember my sister's 3 boys photo which was taken on the same spot when they were still very young. Her eldest is now in 2nd year college.

Loved that there's an ample open space around the hotel premises. However, Mickey will never let you out of his sight. Notice Mickey in the hotel building keeping an eye on us? LOL!

The view of the low lying mountain and Lantau beach created great ambiance and added natural beauty to the hotel.

Taking a refreshing walk along the beach is a must. We got tired with our usual boring poses so we tried new silly pose. Haha!

Methinks Signs of the Times are worth a photo opp, perhaps because we've never been to USA. :D

Back to the hotel building, Celebrity Gifts have all kinds of Mickey Mouse stuff. Didn't check out the prizes though as we had no intention to buy anything there.

Dining options when your stomach starts to roar are Hollywood & Dine, Studio Lounge, Chef Mickey and Piano Pool Bar.

At the end of the day, it was a pleasant stay in spite encountering a Front Desk Officer who rolled his eyes to hubby due to miscommunication. He apologized to us personally after hubby pointed out that his behaviour is totally unacceptable and he apologized again the next day by sending an apology card and a hotel key chain. Apology accepted but I hope the hotel management ensures all the time that all their front desk officers are friendly and accommodating. On a lighter note, I applaud them for surprising K with a birthday towel cake and a Mickey Mouse signed birthday card.

  2. I can hardly be an early bird because I always confirm my holiday at the last minute.
That is what has been called a working life.
