Anniversary and Birthday Special

So, our wedding anniversary and my birthday went by quietly. As usual, it was celebrated intimately with the family. On the actual day of our anniversary, I had my first major media coverage. 

The supportive hubby accompanied me to witness and document the 1st Red Bull Flugtag in Singapore. We initially planned to bring the kids and my mom along but since we already spent quality time with them during the past two consecutive days, I decided to have our much needed couple time to which the hubby agreed. 

When the event finally ended with a huge success at around 3pm, we decided to revisit the place where our wedding reception was held: The Jewel Box dubbed as Singapore's Iconic Hilltop Destination. Five years ago, that Bell of Happiness (above photo) has not been installed yet. Since we are celebrating our anniversary, we deemed appropriate to have our photo taken right there. 

Instead of waiting for the sun to go down and have a romantic dinner at Black Opal (formerly known as the Glass Bar where we treated our civil wedding entourage for dinner five years ago - see above photo) which opens at 6pm , hubby asked permission from the staff whether we could go in to take photos to which the friendly staff said yes without hesitation.

Not much changes made. It remained glass encased and sophisticated. The ambiance is still as romantic as before. They just got rid of the chair and table covers and changed its name. I know it would have been perfect if we waited for it to open and had our candle lit dinner there but the kids are waiting for us at home. We are used to spending Sundays with the family and it felt a bit strange without the kids around. 

I applied my own famous line to myself (which I always tell to K when her wish wasn't granted), there is always next time. Perhaps we could drink Moet and Chandon champagne to celebrate again at the very same place on our 10th anniversary. 

We then went home and I still had ample time left to cook my Filipino style sweet spaghetti which K is crazy about. She said it was out of this world and my mom claimed it was even better than the Jollibee spaghetti. Of course, it was music to my ears. I seldom cook but when I cook for the family, I pour all my love.

Hubby surprised me with an anniversary/birthday cake, champagne roses and pink cocktail on our anniversary/my birthday eve. The kids helped me blew the candles (Ok, at least K did while baby G intensely looked at the candles. Haha!) 

After blowing the candles, we all ate the spaghetti which baby G also enjoyed. Can you tell that he was also trying to tell you here that mama's cooking is the best? Hehehe! Disclaimer: My kids have taste buds that are quite easy to please. Thank goodness my lousy cooking skills satisfy them for now and I'm gratified with that fact. 

On a serious note, I can't thank God enough for all the blessings my family receives every single day as we breath and enjoy the gift of life while sharing the best and worst of times. Yes, you've read it right. We have a fair share of bliss and chaos inside our household. It's just that we tend to dwell upon things that spells happiness always that's why most of you my readers, our family back home, friends and acquaintances have this perception that we have a perfect family and that hubby and I have a perfect marriage. Well, I am telling you now, we are perfectly imperfect.
