Keeping the Strong Family Ties

One of the highlights of my Christmas vacation in the Philippines is being reunited with my siblings in our hometown, Tumauini, Isabela. I soooooooooo miss them! It was a very rare occasion that we get to be in one place at the same time. My family lives in Singapore, my eldest sister and her family lives in Metro Manila and my eldest brother works in UAE. Too bad he wasn't able to come home so we got her wife (the one on my left) to represent him. We also miss Papa Ernest but well, life's like that... He's been gone for as long as I can remember but we always miss him somehow.

Papa was responsible for building close family ties amongst us. When he was still alive, everyone was obliged to sit in the dining table for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everyday is a simple feast for the family as Papa loves to cook for all of us. We would talk about each other's what and where-abouts while savouring our superdelicious home-cooked meals. We are one big happy family! I really miss those simple and care-free days.

Another family activity I miss is going to the river riding Papa's motorcycle.  We go to the river a few kilometers away from our home sweet home to wash our clothes and have a picnic afterwards. Yes, my Papa used to drive a motorcycle. If he is still alive, my siblings and I would love to buy him a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a helmet and make him the coolest dad in town.  We would pamper him to express how much we love him. *takes a pause, eyes threatening to pour a river of tears*

Sorry, I gotta go... Please excuse me.

xoxo

  2. Family is comprised of the people who stay with us in our lowest moments and rejoice with us in our highest moments.

  3. Family whatever differences there maybe will still be a union of God-fearing individuals. A principle me and my siblings have learned from our late dad. We are planning a big birthday bash for our mom this March 1 and hopefully it will be a very memorable family reunion.

  4. Home is the first assembly of people God had created, so it applies that God-like virtues lives in each member's heart. Yan ang ideal family.  Yours I see in the photo is a caring family.

Sounds like your dad and mine have common traits. And like yours, mine has been gone for 14 years now. I have a whole lot of beautiful memories of him as well. :)
