Bugis Junction food trail 8th stop: Honguo
In my search about Honguo in the world wide web, I found out that it is actually a Chinese Yunnan eatery.
Their menu says Honguo is about food, love & stories. It made me want to find out more about their history but unfortunately they don't have a website yet.
One of Honguo's specialty is their Zhuang Yuan Mi Xian.
Zhuang Yuan Mi Xian ($8.80)
The special dish comes in 15 items: a big red bowl of hot soup, a bowl of noodle and 13 "add ons" that include mushroom, prawns, quail eggs, ham, spring onion, vegetables and more.
The server helped us mixed the "add ons" to the soup and noodle. It would have been fun DIYing.
This is how it looks after mixing.
Here's my flavoursome portion of the soup. Worth giving it a try.
The rest of the food that we tried are:
Sze Chuan Chicken in Basket ($7.50)
This chicken dish is spicy but palatable.
Minced Pork Lettuce Wrap ($6.80)
Too bad, I didn't get to try this.
This is how it is supposed to be devoured.
Pumpkin Fries with Salted Egg Yolk ($6.80)
I find this very "starchy", not apt to my liking.
Lotus XO Seafood Fried Rice ($8.80)
If you happen to dine at Honguo, you should try this.
This is my small portion. I could have eaten more if I wasn't feeling too full from all the food tasting.
XO Fried Seafood Noodle ($8.80)
For me, anything with seafood is worth savouring.
Mango Pomelo Freeze
My drink of choice. I made up that name as I couldn't remember the exact description of this refreshing drink.
Here are your other options.
