Sometime last year, my lady boss treated me and my ex-colleague for lunch at Dome Café in Paragon. If I remember clearly, I did not take photos of the place and what we ate then but I did make a mental note to try eating at Dome again on my own or with the fambam so that I could feature it here.
Few weeks ago, superman kept mentioning about Dome's chocolate lava. He said it was the best molten lava he had so far. I thought the mention of Dome is a reminder for me that I should go there soon for a gastronomic indulgence. Dome is definitely calling out my name. :D
I brought my mom along with me during my Fri-date with K and took the opportunity to have an all girls day night out. K's Chinese supplementary class has temporarily re-located in Dhoby Ghaut area so I was happy when I found out that there is a Dome Café in the newly opened wing of Plaza Singapura. Before I knocked off from work, I called them to book a table for 3.
My Fri-dates with Dome's signature dome-shaped globe ceiling above their heads. They also have that at Paragon branch and I'm guessing they have it in all their branches.
It was almost full-house when we arrived. It is always a must to have a table booked so that you are guaranteed to have a spot when you want to dine there.
While waiting for our order, I went to take a peek (and pic, hehe) at their desserts. Can you spot the chocolate lava with Gelato? Looking at it made me drool. Haha
When I went back to our table, my mom's English breakfast tea has already been served. It came with a teeny tiny piece of hazelnut (?) cookie.
Here's my pick: Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli - homemade basil pesto, roasted aubergine, baby asparagus in tomato cream sauce, topped with pine nuts. I chose this with a light dinner in mind only to realize the serving was very big for me. I shared it with K and my mom and they liked it.
Mom's pick: Beef Tenderloin - served with sauteed savory cabbage, bacon and grilled mushroom, topped with pomery mustard sauce. I told the server my mum wanted well-done but she recommended a medium rare and I said ok. It was too late when I realized my mom doesn't eat anything not well-cooked (ie. a pinkish meat with a hint of blood). I ended up switching food with her.
For dessert, we all shared with this Raspberries Swiss Cake. Because my mom ate so little, I had to finish both the beef tenderloin and the ravioli and had no more space left for a chocolate lava with gelato.
K and mom's food was from this Dome Café's New Zealand Farm Creation promotion. Promotion is valid until 31 May 2013 excluding Dome Suntec Tower 5, UCC and One Raffles Place.
Had I noticed their baked rice menu, I could have ordered from it instead. Oh well, there will always be next time. Note that I have not indulged in their chocolate lava yet. :)
