Trip to Kuala Lumpur via KTM Intercity Train

Hubby and I were one of the many people who felt sad when the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station ceased its operation on 1st of July 2011.

The reason was, on the 15th of April 2006 we boarded the Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Intercity train at Tanjong Pagar on a spur of the moment trip to Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia. It was one of those exciting unplanned trip, we went to the train station without any prior train and hotel booking with a backpack.

We thought we could always go somewhere else should we fail to get a train seat but we were lucky to get train tickets from Singapore to KL last minute. We obviously had beautiful memories of the place. We boarded in the evening and arrived in Malaysia early in the morning.

Our train tickets are well-kept in our old school travel photo book. I used it as a background for our photo souvenir while we were on top of the Petronas Twin Towers Skybridge plus the view from the Skybridge.

Too bad I wasn't into photography yet during that time and the analogue camera that we brought with us actually gave up on us while we were exploring the Petronas Twin Towers.

We did not see much scenery on our way to Kuala Lumpur as it was dark but on our way back was a different story. Before the trip, we never thought that there's a railway in Singapore in the midst of nowhere densely forested area in Bukit Timah.

It was one of the fun-nest and most unforgettable trip that M and I ever did. It was actually our very first overseas trip after he followed me here in Singapore. We may be able to do such "trip" again and reminisce the good old times when the kids are all grown up and have a life of their own. After the closure of Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, it is still doable via the Woodlands Train Stations
