River Safari, Singapore

One of Singapore's newest attraction is the River Safari which had its soft opening in April this year. The river-themed 12 hectares zoo is nestled between the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari.

One of the main attractions of the safari is a pair of male and female giant pandas named Kai Kai and Jia Jia from China. They are housed in a specially constructed climate-controlled enclosure which change throughout the four seasons emulating their natural environment (according to wikipedia).

The pandas are fed with a special bamboo which were grown from the zoo's 8000 square meter plantation. I am not so sure which is Kai Kai and which is Jia Jia but one of them hid in the bushes while busy munching on bamboo leaves.

River Safari features the Rivers of the World namely Murray River, Mississippi River, Congo River, River Nile, Ganges River and Mekong River.

My girl tremendously enjoyed meeting Kai Kai and Jia Jia but my little boy loved looking at the variety of freshwater fishes swimming at the river exhibits.

This is the massive Mekong River exhibit, its size is apparently as big as four double decker bus according to wikipedia. It houses the world's largest freshwater animal species including the Mekong giant cat fish and the giant freshwater stingray.

What I love most about the River Safari is the beauty of its surroundings. I am a sucker of nature's love and I have to say again that I can stay in this spot forever watching the beautiful world go by.

PS.
