Brunch at The Soup Spoon

I took a day off from work yesterday to enjoy a well deserved weekday break from being an all-around clinic manager. As predicted, I had to report to the clinic last minute because I need to retrieve an important work email for the superman who was scheduled to leave for China in the afternoon. So as not to waste my travelling time from the east all the way to central area, I decided to treat myself with good food before heading back home.

It was raining and I thought it sounds perfect to have a warm soup in a cozy place so off I went to try The Soup Spoon at Plaza Singapura for the first time. Who would resist stopping by in such a pretty and cozy place? Besides, been eyeing The Soup Spoon ever since they sprouted like mushrooms in its peak season in the city, central, east, and west of Singapore.

I was supposed to order just a soup to warm my stomach on a cold morning but I ended up ordering a set meal. I had regular velvety mushroom stroganoff soup with bread, half caesar salad and iced lemon tea. I almost couldn't make up my mind which soup to order (was eying for the beek goulash and meatless minestone) but I followed the mushroom lover in me and did not regret my choice. The mixture of shitake mushroon, button mushroom, garlic, onion, cream, flour and red wine created a really velvetty soup. The smooth texture, the strong aroma of fresh mushrooms and slightly bitter taste are enough to make mushroom lovers like me to drool and crave for more.

What's commendable about the The Soup Spoon is that they served food with no added preservatives or flavouring. They also provide calorie counts based on a regular sized bowl of soup. Here's my velvety mushroom stroganoff nutritional content: Calories: 252 cal; Protein: 4.9 g; Carbohydrates: 24.2 g;
Fat: 13 g.

If you are always on the look out on your calorie intake, The Soup Spoon made it a lot easier for you. Do take note that the nutritional figures provided does not include the piece of bread served with the soup.

Please allow me to digress for just a sec, I loved The Soup Spoon's crockery. They are soooo pretty don't you think so?

I will definitely come back again as I got value for my money, good service and good food.
