Last first of November, I had a belated birthday dinner with my university friends at nydc (New York Dessert Cafe), Bugis Junction. I told them to just order anything they want because my lady boss gifted me with Capita vouchers which I could use to settle our bill.
Here's what we feasted on:
1) LOLLI PORK RIBS
2) HOOKIN' BROOKLYN CHICKS
My chicken lover friend ordered this but didn't know it was actually spicy. At first, nobody dare touch it as we were all not into spicy foods but as the dinner progressed it was picked one by one until nothing was left on the plate. LOL. I opted to have the veggie dip only so I couldn't comment on the taste.
3) LET'S MEET ON FRIESDAY
Coincidentally, we all met on Friday night so this appetizer is a perfect choice. Haha! The bed of classic cut potato fries was generously topped with saucy meat and melted mozarella cheese. We all loved it!
4) SIMPLE SALMON SAYS TOSS IT!
This was my order from the salad menu. I ate it as my main because superman and lady boss treated me with a very filling Chinese lunch at Jade Palace earlier in the day. I didn't expect it to be soooo good. I've become a fan of salads lately in my quest to help the hubby lost weight, and this salad blew me away! The generous portion of smoked salmon in a bed of mesclun salad topped with cream cheese balls (OMG, the cheese balls brought me to cheese heaven!), croutons, and tomatoes in honey balsamic dressing made me enjoy an amazing salad sensation. I wish to recreate this at home, should I ask nydc for the secret recipe? LOL.
5) PIGGLY WIGGLY BURGER
DESCRIPTION: Succulent pulled pork slathered with root beer BBQ sauce, coleslaw, romaine leaves with a mesclun salad on the side. I couldn't comment on it as I opted not to have anything but my salad and one lolli. :D
6) DOUBLE BEEF BOOSTER
DESCRIPTION: Hunky dory double of corn beef and pastrami, with sauerkraut and melted cheese. Served with a side of mesclun salad in Russian dressing. Again, I couldn't comment on it as I opted not to have anything but my salad and one lolli. :D
For dessert, I recommended my friends to try out the Jedi Mudster.
7) Jedi Mudster
Doble chocolate chip and macadamia nut icecream on an Oreo bade with homemade cookie chunks topped with chocolate fudge and whipped cream. I have featured this dessert before on my Bugis Junction Food Trail post.
They also ordered another chocolatey dessert.
8) BRING ME TO THE DARK SIDE
DESCRIPTION: It's Darth Vader's pick for his chocolate indulgence. Marshmallows and almond flakes site in between 2 different layers of chocolate icecream filled with gobs of fudge chunks and everything nice.
Although I skipped the dessert and other food, I had such a fun night with the girls. We had a great time chatting non-stop in between bites. All of us are dentists by profession, these girls are my long time friends since our pre-dentistry days. They are all working in a hospital as DA's.
Can't wait for our next girls' Fri-date!
PS
I was so embarrassed when they were all waiting for me to photograph their food before eating. They knew me so well, LOL. What I did is, I handed them my phone and get them to take the photos for me so some of the photo credits go to them. :D
