5 Reasons Why You Should Stay at Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort

To be honest, I didn't do any research before I booked our 2D1N family staycation at Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort and Spa last December. All I did is look at their website and after browsing their photo gallery, I was immediately convinced that my water-loving kids will be happy if we stay there. I didn't really raise the bar of my expectations so when we actually stayed there for two days and one night, I was blown away by their excellent service and eco-friendly facilities.

Here are 5 things my family loved and enjoyed so much when we stayed at Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort and Spa. These may be the exact reasons why you should choose to stay there on your next vacation in Singapore (or perhaps staycation if you are a resident like us).

1. Lush greenery
The luxurious greenery inside and outside the resort premises makes Rasa Sentosa Resort an ideal place for an instant nature retreat. You can call it a tropical paradise if you wish. Being naturally drawn to the exquisite gifts of nature, our hearts danced and sang with joy as we were surrounded by numerous trees including a 128 year old Angsana heritage tree, vertical gardens, waterfalls, koi pond, and palm trees during our stay. Added bonus: the resort is converted into a non-smoking property since undergoing an extensive renovation in 2011. Guests are guaranteed to breathe in clean air and have happy lungs.

2. Fantastic room with spectacular views
Our Deluxe Pool View Room was equipped with private balcony with rest chairs, sparkling clean see-through bathroom, spacious wardrobe with ironing facilities, king size bed and a roll-away bed. Amenities include 24-hr room service, complimentary internet broadband access,  mini-fridge, water heater, 40-inch LCD television with satellite TV channels, in-room electronic safe, international direct dial cordless telephone, recyclable rubber bedroom slippers, snow white plush towels and bathrobes, marshmallow soft pillows and beddings, and premium Shangri-La toiletries.

3. Kid-friendly facilities
Apart from the water play area and children's pool that is equipped with slides and slash pad, Rasa Sentosa Resort also boasts a kid-friendly play area for toddlers, a giant tree house slide meant for bigger kids that winds down from level 3 down to a pool of colourful balls at level one, arts and craft room (not in photo) and a video game arcade. Parents who wish to leave their kids at the children's club known as Cool Zone whilst they go for a spa or simply chill in the beach will be assured that their kids are closely supervised. The club offers full-day children's program that includes complimentary lunch or dinner.

4. Impeccable service
From the concierge, room service, children's club crew, Silver Shell Restaurant staff down to the icecream auntie, we were given first class service all throughout our stay at the resort. It is so true that minute detail is what makes a big difference. We managed to check-in early and we were given complimentary Nonya dessert, mini-cornettos, water bottles, coffee, tea, and fizzy drinks. The sparkling clean bathroom, snow white fluffy towels and marshmallow soft, clean beddings were equally impressive. And because we booked the Family Fun package, kids were also provided a kiddie bathrobe and slippers on top of the extra roll-away bed that we requested. Excellent service way beyond our expectations! On top of the great service, I also commend Shangri-La charity for helping to raise funds for the Typhoon Haiyan victims.

5. Private beachfront
Fact: Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort and Spa is the only beachfront resort in Singapore. It is conveniently situated at Sentosa Island's Siloso Beach overlooking spectacular views of the South China Sea. During our entire stay, it felt like we have the private beach all to ourselves. We can count other guests who joined us for some water sports fun with our fingers. The beachfront is perfect for either an early morning swim, boating and kayaking or sunset beach walk or afternoon cocktail while lounging.

Our pleasant family stay at Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort and Spa was made even more memorable by the nice weather. We can't thank God enough for the opportunity to rest from work, spend quality time with our children and breathe in the goodness of life!
