Indulging in a relaxing spa weekend is not only great for recuperating, but it provides you with the perfect excuse to indulge in your health. The health benefits of visiting a spa are vast. As well as giving you time to unwind and de-stress, you are also giving you the chance to kick-start your new healthy living regime.
If you want to know more about the amazing health benefits of an indulgent spa weekend, then you need not look any further:
Detox
Detoxing is imperative to your body as it not only clears you of toxins, but can help you also alleviate stress. You are given time to re-energize which is essential for those of us with busy, and often hectic, lifestyles. Removing dangerous toxins from your body allows you to re-generate new blood in your body. This means that your kidneys, liver, lungs and skin will all feel the benefits from you indulging in a detox spa weekend.
What is more, if you indulge in exercise while you are detoxing you are providing your body with everything that it needs to become pure and healthy once again. The impact on your body knows no bounds.
Sleep
So many of us miss out on vital sleep. Our busy working lives denote that we work long hours, and often work extra hours, meaning that we miss out on the much needed sleep that our bodies long for.
By indulging in a spa weekend, you get so much more than spa slippers and a robe. You give your body the perfect opportunity to take those desired eight hours per night that are so difficult to attain when you are at home. Do not think that sleep deprivation doesn’t have a negative impact on your body. Sleep deprivation makes people miserable, lethargic and reach out for junk food. All of these things have harmful effects on our health and emotional well being.
Combat Aches and Pains
Should you be unfortunate enough to suffer from a wide range of aches and pains, age related or otherwise, by embarking on a weekend of relaxing spa treatments you are putting your body at the helm of a professional that can make these aches and pain disappear. Deep tissue massages can rid the body of any knots or twists meaning that you will be pain free in no time.
Trained professionals will target your problem areas, meaning that you will feel the benefits of natural remedies as opposed to taking medication to solve the problems that you may suffer from. While medication has its place, it is always important to seek out natural remedies such as massage or acupuncture to ensure that you be alleviated from pain in a more sustainable way.
Weight Loss
As any professional will attest, carrying excess weight will have a detrimental effect on your overall health. Being overweight puts strain on your heart, and other vital organs. Trained nutritionists and dieticians work within spas to educate people on the importance of healthy eating as well as devising tailored plans to ensure that you can embark on a lifetime of healthy eating.

A lifetime of healthy eating, I definitely need to get started :)
ReplyDelete"Sleep deprivation makes you reach out for junk food" - CORRECT! I think I could qualify as a stakeholder for McDonald's. When I do not get my usual 3-hours-before-work-power-nap, I find myself walking to McDonalds the minute I have logged in at work. "Double cheeseburger, hash browns and a tall coke zero float, please."
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely great tips sis. Sleep... sometimes, I abused myself for depriving of enough sleep.
ReplyDeleteSpa time = me time so with or without health benefits, I'd still have my weekly massage session. hehehe
ReplyDeleteIt has been a loooong time since I had a spa or a massage. I can still remember, the last time I was in the Philippines, early part of 2013. This is something I can't afford in the US so I'm again looking forward to another PH visit and get my daily massage routine.
ReplyDeleteYour post reminded me to go back to the spa. I haven't been to one in months since I got caught up with a lot of family obligations. It's time to make use of my spa membership and book an appointment soon :-)
ReplyDeleteThumbs Up for these very sound tips. Learned something new sa post na ito.
ReplyDeleteI badly need a spa break because I can't sleep well at night, I'm overworked, and I deserve it. Your post reminded me to go to The Spa for some pampering treats. Thanks for the gentle reminder!
ReplyDeletenow after reading this makes me want to get a spa day!
ReplyDeletei really need this...naubos ata energy ko nung nagpa-surgery si Iris...and agree with all the benefits we can get from spa.
ReplyDeleteFour years of working, four years of planning and I still haven't had a spa break myself. I needed this so bad!
ReplyDeleteOh gawd! I would love to have a spa right now :-) I have not try it but it sure looks very relaxing and refreshing :-)
ReplyDeleteI badly need that!!! We owe it to ourselves. I am sleep-deprived and been working like a horse. I just had my massage last Sunday and I felt good! I will be eyeing a spa soon. Thanks for this lovely post, Dokie!
ReplyDeleteGoing to the spa is a luxury for me now. When I was single, my friends and co-workers would go to the spa to feel relaxed and unwind... but now that I have a family to look after and working is a must, spa is an indulgence, a very rare treat... and I would really love to have one this Summer!
