4 Gift Ideas for Father's Day

Fathers Day is fast approaching, and you are more than likely in a gift-giving quandary. If your dad is anything like mine, he will probably say that he doesn’t want anything. As you well know, this is not helpful.

Of course, our fathers generally don’t want anything. They tend to be happy with a thoughtful and emotional card, but it is not like you are going to turn up empty handed on Fathers Day and give your dad a piece of paper, as a token of your love and thanks for everything that he has done for you.

Finding your father the perfect gift can be a minefield, but do not despair. This guide will provide you with all the inspiration that you need to ensure that you win a ‘child of the year’ award:

Gardening Gifts

If your dad is something of an avid gardener and enjoys nothing more than pottering around in the garden, then purchasing him gardening gifts is incredibly thoughtful. What is more, he will get hours of use out of them. So, not only are gardening gifts an amazing gift, they are also very practical. For your green fingered father, you may want to consider getting him a gardening toolbox, a barometer, stainless steel watering cans in funky designs or quirky and bright compost tins. Your dad will be sure to love them, whatever the weather.

Unusual Gifts

If your dad is more of a ‘daddy cool’ type than the traditional type, he will be sure to love something a little more fun. Gifts for him could include a wine carrying bag, a spotted, silk pocket square and a retro bicycle repair kit. Buying him CDs or iTunes vouchers could work too, especially if he likes to get down and boogie on a Saturday night.

Sporting Greats

Buying chocolate can be seen as an impersonal gift, but if you play it right, it can actually prove to be a very thoughtful and personal present to give. If your dad is something of a sports fanatic, why not get him a chocolate tree made of footballs or rugby balls. What is more, many football clubs now offer tours of their stadiums. These are fairly cheap too, so you and your dad could have some quality bonding time at this favourite football clubs stadium. He will revel in telling you how different it was when he ‘were a lad.'

Gadget Nerd

Some dads cannot work the DVD player while others are entirely tech savvy. If your dad is a huge fan of gadgets and technology, then why not indulge his technological love? Opt for premium leather phone covers and tablet covers to ensure that his most treasured possessions are protected from the elements. If your dad is something of a keen reader, you could invest in a Kindle or eReader for your dad so he can combine his love of books with his love of gadgets.

There are so many great, original gifts to bear this Fathers Day, that you will both be spoilt for choice.

  12. Because my father has a small vegetable garden, I think I'd give him some gardening tools for Father's Day, and as for my hubby, a new gadget will do. Thanks for the ideas!
