Flying can be an exciting adventure. Taking to the skies and jetting off to a distant land is something many people look forward to. But air travel can also be stressful, time-consuming and is often something that people dread. But a lot of the time this is because they haven’t taken steps to ensure that they can enjoy the process of air travel.
Flying can be a lot of fun you just need to make sure that prepare properly for your journey to avoid stress and panic. There are a lot of things to take into account when you are planning your journey.
So many of these factors get overlooked by people and this results in complications. Make sure that you are thorough with your preparations and that you have covered all your bases. Here is a list of five top tips to ensure your air travel is smooth.
1. Pack light
Packing light is a great way to enjoy a stress-free flying experience. Make sure you pack efficiently and if possible try not to have more than one bag. If you are going somewhere hot and you only want to take short and t-shirts, you may consider getting a small travel case.
You could even take this on as hand luggage. This way you have no problems with luggage handling, weight problems or misplacing your baggage.
2. Check baggage allowance
Baggage allowance can be one of the biggest pains and is often the first obstacle you will face on your air travel adventure. For every trip you make you will have a baggage allowance, and it is important that you stick to it.
If you go over the allowance, you will have to pay a surcharge. You can, of course, pay for extra allowance, but it can be quite pricey so think about whether you need to. You should also account for your return journey and the fact you may want bring things back with you. Again this is a reason to pack light.
3. Visible toiletries
Most airports will have rules about toiletries and liquid of any kind. Most will need to be presented in clear bottles and are only permitted up to a certain volume. If you do not adhere to these rules, the airline will not allow you to take your toiletries with you on the flight. This will be a waste of time and effort.
Another way around this might be to not pack any toiletries and pick up what you need when you reach your destination.
4. Stick to check-in times
One of the most important parts of air travel is making sure that you get your check-in times right. The time of your check-in should available when you make your booking, and you need to make sure you stick to it.
Check-in times are important for the airport, the airline and you. Checking in on time means you can prepare for issues such as a delayed flight, baggage problem and last minute emergencies. You may even find that if you miss your check-in time you will also miss your flight, so stick to it!
5. Get travel insurance
Travel insurance is an important part of air travel. Despite this many people every year still fly without it. If you are leaving your home country, you will want to take precautions to make sure you are protected.
Insurance will help you in all areas of your travel. It will protect you against injury, baggage loss and even cancellations.
We have never gotten any travel insurance but I must admit, it is very important to have.
