Hawaii isn’t simply an island for those who are honeymooning or couples looking for an exotic romantic getaway, it’s also an excellent choice of location if you’re heading off on a vacation as a family with young kids. There are a number of excellent locations in Hawaii that are perfect for families, such as the Kauai Beach Resort – there’s lot of things that mum and dad can do together, but kids aren’t left out either with a wide variety of child-friendly activities and things to do that will make it a firm favorite destination. If you’re wondering whether or not to take your kids on vacation to Hawaii, read on to find out just a few things they’ll be able to have some fun doing whilst you’re there.

Surfing

Hawaii is a surfer’s paradise, and if your kids love the sea and are always up for an adventure, they’ll love taking part in surfing lessons with you. As long as they’re able to swim, most of the expert instructors are perfectly happy to give them surfing lessons – there is a minimum age, of course, so it’s best to check before you book.

Pearl Harbor

A visit to Pearl Harbor is an activity that’s available to those of all ages and provides something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Whilst your kids might get a little bored learning about history, they will be fascinated by the war museums and learning about the sacrifices made by the troops.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

If you’re planning a visit to Hawaii’s Big Island, a trip to the Volcanoes National Park should definitely be on the cards if you’re taking the kids – they’ll be amazed by watching the dark clouds billowing over the erupting volcano Kilauea and have lots of fun exploring the Thurston Lava Tube. If you’re taking younger kids be mindful that it’s quite a hike to the viewing area.

Snorkeling

If your kids love to swim, then they’ll love snorkeling – it’s fun and a really easy activity to do. With lots of great spots in Hawaii that are suitable for snorkeling including Molokini Crater just off the cost of Maui, Hanauma Bay in Oahu and Kealakekua Bay on the Big Island, it’s an activity that you’ll definitely be able to have plenty of fun doing together on your family vacation.

Family Beaches

The beach is usually the top destination for anybody taking a summer vacation, and Hawaii is definitely not short of beautiful, sandy beaches that are ideal places for you to wind down and relax whilst your kids play in the sun. Whether you’re looking for crowded or quiet beaches, white sand or black sand, there’s a beach in Hawaii to suit everybody when it comes to somewhere to play, relax, surf, swim or even build sandcastles.
