As a human being, we tend to focus on our problems rather than our blessings. It takes a constant effort to live life with eyes of gratitude. There are countless inspiring quotes about gratitude but the one above sums up why I choose to be grateful in every little and big blessings I have in life. If you find it hard to be thankful because of your personal difficulties in life, let me share you the 3 simple ways on how I live my life with a grateful heart despite my own hardships and battles.
1) Always think about people who have LESS in life
Instead of complaining that you down own this and that, think about other people all over the world who don't have a roof above their heads, food on their table, clothes to keep them warm and love ones to make them feel significant and loved.
2) Be contented with what you have
Swami Sivananda, an Indian Philosopher was quoted saying, "There is no end of craving. Hence contentment alone is the best way to happiness. Therefore, acquire contentment." I know it is a bit difficult to stay contented in life when you constantly see people on social media posting about their latest acquired worldly material but with concious effort, contentment is conceivable.
3) Focus on your blessings
The fact that you are alive is already considered your biggest blessing. In life, there is always something to be grateful about be it your gift of senses (sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch), your capable limbs, your healthy body organs, your family and love ones, your home, your source of income, your friends, the food you eat, the fresh air you breathe, the sound of chirping birds, the swaying branches of the trees, and so on and so forth. All you need is to open your eyes and heart.
Always remember this quote:
"Gratitude bestows reverence... changing forever how we experience life and the world." ~ John Milton
