Budget Hotels in Singapore

"Can you recommend us a cheap hotel in Singapore?"

That is one of the most frequent question I get in my Facebook, Instagram and here on the blog. With all honesty, I only know that there are budget-friendly hotels around. As for recommendation, I have not stayed in any of those hotels before so I can't really recommend one.

Since I get that question way too often, I decided to come up with this post which I hope in one way or another will be of help to those planning to visit Singapore and prefers to stay in cheap hotels.

Based on my search in the world wide web, I present you my Cheap Hotels in Singapore/Budget Friendly Accommodations in Singapore list:

1) HOTEL 81
Hotel 81 is a chain of value hotels around Singapore. It boasts accessibility + affordability to tourists/travelers who are always out and about and only need a place to sleep in.

There are numerous locations all around Singapore but if you are keen to stay in Hotel 81, I only recommend these locations based solely on its accessibility to places of interest.
  • Hotel 81 Chinatown
  • Hotel 81 Bugis
  • Hotel 81 Selegie
  • Hotel 81 Heritage
  • Hotel 81 Osaka
  • Hotel 81 Bencoolen
I highly suggest that you choose a location you think is safer for you and your family. If you are unfamiliar, do a little bit of research. You can check the rest of the locations here. If you are traveling with young kids, I strongly advise you to avoid Geylang area which is dubbed as "the red light district".

2) Fragrance Hotel
Similar to Hotel 81, Fragrance chain of hotels also offer basic accommodation at an affordable price. They have 21 locations all over the island and just like Hotel 81, you must avoid the red light district if you are traveling with young kids. Same advise, choose a location you think is safer and if in doubt, do a bit of research or ask friends who stay in Singapore and are familiar with the area of your choice.

  3. I've never been to Singapore. Four years ago we bought 3 round trip tickets to Malaysia and SG and wasted it. My daughter got sick but I think I wanted to stay in Manila more. I thought going to SG would entails more budget esp with the hotels. I wish I learned about budget hotels sooner. Might have taken that flight out!
