5 Foods You Should Avoid to Have a Healthy Skin

You know the saying, you are what you eat? It sounds cliche but it conveys a strong message most especially to people who loves to indulge in sinful food. Oh, well! Ain't a saint, I like to give in to my cravings (a.k.a "bad" food) too at times but I do make a conscious effort to eat everything in moderation.

Here are 5 foods/beverages I indulge myself once in a while which are actually bad for my skin so I really do my best to consume it once in a blue moon:

1. Coffee
There are times that I desperately need to stay awake at work so I turn into the coffee machine or nearby cafe for help to make me a good cup of coffee to keep me awake. I read somewhere that caffeinated drinks actually dehydrate the skin, causing it more prone to wrinkles. In the events that I cannot say no to coffee, I do my best to keep myself hydrated by drink 8 glasses of water (or more).

2. Seafood
I am a certified seafood lover so I do give in to my cravings for chili crab, cereal prawn, buttered shrimps and grilled lobster once or twice a month. Apparently, these high in iodine seafoods can lead to acne and clogged pores. Oh what a spoiler alert!

3. Junk Foods
There is a reason why it's called junk, duh! Why do I still give in to chips, French fries, cola float and the likes then? My answer is very simple: Upper case P, M and S! Oh, please don't laugh at my face! It's not like I have a control over my hormonal changes. The bad news is, these junk foods stimulate excessive oil production and the end result? Aging skin!!! Yes, three exclamation points for emphasis.

4. Sweets
Hello there candies, chocolates, icecream, sweetened fruit drinks, and sugary smoothies! I gathered from a grapevine that acne loves sugar as much a bee loves a flower nectar so I am so gonna stay far, far away from any sweetened food until the next episode of my monthly PMS. Lol.

5. Fried Foods
Korean fried chicken anyone? Count me in! How am I going to live without eating fried foods for a month? I warned you already, ain't a saint here! I am totally guilty of committing a sin (read: eating fried food). I do try to eat in moderation because oily food causes poor blood circulation (read: healthy blood circulation is synonymous to healthy skin) hence depriving your skin that youthful glow it deserves.

I do advise that you stay far, far away from all the foods and drinks mentioned above if you wish to have that most coveted fountain of youth. Try to eat/drink more food and drinks that are good for the skin instead like strawberries, olive oil, green tea, pumpkin and pomegranate. It will also help if you make a conscious effort to buy skincare products from Skinfood Singapore.
