Top 3 Must-Have Skin Care Products

I always get asked what's my secret for having a relatively nice skin. I say relatively because I do have skin problems that are not so evident when you see me face to face and more so when you see me in photos. I confess that due to my different priorities, I never really splurge on skin care products that cost an arm and a leg. I rather save up the money for travel overseas and explorations around Singapore because one of my priorities in life is to invest on experience.

Having said that, I do spend a fraction of my hard-earned money on the following skin care products but I always choose those that are affordable yet effective.

1) SUNBLOCK LOTION
Many of us believed that we only need to apply sunblock when we are out in the beach/swimming pool or sunny outdoors. According to American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), 80% of the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays can penetrate our skin even on cloudy days. In short, we all need to apply sunblock lotion every single time we go out. Best to choose effective ones that prevents sunburn, reduces the risks of skin cancer and prevents early signs of skin aging. AAD recommends applying it 15 minutes before going out and re-apply approximately every two hours, or after swimming or sweating, as instructed in the product packaging.

2) HAND CREAM
Frequent and repetitive hand washing to get rid of harmful bacteria is a must but unfortunately, it causes skin dryness and roughness. It's highly recommended that we use hand cream right after hand washing to re-hydrate the skin. I have made this a habit as I work in the medical field where I am exposed to all kinds of germs hence I wash my hands ever so frequently.

3) FACE AND BODY MOISTURIZER
I read one article before that says, if there's three tips to achieve and maintain a beautiful and smooth skin, it's moisturize, moisturize and moisturize! I couldn't beg to disagree! I use a face and body moisturizer religiously after bathing in the morning, after refreshing up in the middle of the day and after showering at night. Moisturizer doesn't just help you feel and look younger, it actually softens your skin, make it more elastic and keep it hydrated.
