Tulipmania Rediscovered @ Gardens by the Bay

This year's Tulipmania Floral Display at Gardens by the Bay is nothing short of spectacular from the previous ones. I, for once, fell in love with the snowflake-looking variety. Find them on my list of tulips to look out for as you scroll down the post.

Set amidst an elegant Persian-style backdrop, tulips trace their roots back to the Ottoman Empire where they were first cultivated.

Tulip Period derives from the tulip craze among the Ottoman court society in the historic era. During this period, the elite and high-class society of the Ottoman Empire had established an immense fondness for the tulip, which were utilized in various occasions. Tulips defined nobility and privilege, both in terms of goods and leisure time. ~ Wikipedia

Here are some of the tulips to look out for at Flower Dome:

1) TULIPA 'MONTE CARLO'

This variety is a double-petalled tulip with petals of sulphur yellow. This bright and cheery tulip is a recipient of Award of Garden Merit from Royal Horticultural Society.

2) TULIPA 'OVIEDO'

This tulip with purple fringe and white edges is so pretty in real life, you have to go and see it for your self!

3) TULIPA 'SMIRNOFF'

This variety reminds me of snowflakes which I badly need in hot-hot Singapore weather right now! Haha! Kiddin' aside, this is the white version of Oviedo.

There are more! You will never get enough of all the tulips! There's a reason why it's called tulipMANIA!
