Singtel x Nickelodeon Fun Day Out at Kidzania

Side Story: (You are excused to jump to the main story if you are pressed with time.)

Oh how time flies! I didn't realize it's been three weeks already since we were kindly invited to attend the launch of Singtel's Cast OTT video portal app at Kidzania. I am not gonna bore you with detailed work sentiments but I decided to leave my managerial position and have been very busy handing over my duties and responsibilities in the past few weeks.

Thankfully, it was officially over last week but I needed that much needed brain break to get my blogging mojo back. Besides, the kids have been looking forward to my temporary stay-at-home-mom (SAHM) stint so I dedicated my first week all to them doing the most random things. We've been to Sophisca Christmas Party, we've covered Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay, we've made a spur of the moment trip to Ikea, and as of this writing, we just came back from Universal Studios Singapore (USS).

You can imagine how many pending blog posts I have to write! On top of all the wandering I did with the kids, I also re-organized G's playroom and have been de-cluttering at home. When I was still at work, I actually looked forward to being a free SAHM but oh boy was I completely mistaken! I've actually been busier than when I was working! Ain't complaining because the kids are having the funnest times of their lives having me every single day but you get the drift!

Main Story:

Hooookaaaay, I guess you had enough of my blah-bbering so let's talk about the launch of Singtel's Cast OTT video portal app shall we? As my blog title implies, we had a fun day out at Kidzania with the Singtel and Nickelodeon team during the event.

Let me give you a brief introduction.

CAST, Singapore's first OTT video portal app, is Singtel's brand new way for consumers to enjoy their favourite entertainment on-the-go. Cast will offer thousands of hours of exciting movies, dramas, variety  and kids' edutainment delivered on Singtel's extensive 4G network.

Cast subscribers will enjoy:
  • Instant access to full HD episodes or downloads to watch offline with the 'Watch Now' and 'Download' functions
  • Uninterrupted streaming on Singtel's high-speed, extensive 4G network or any WiFi connection
  • Convenience of paying for their subscriptions through their monthly Singtel bill
Singtel Mobile postpaid consumers can choose from Kids, Asian Hits and Hallyu content packs. Each pack is priced at S$4.90/month and consumers can opt for a special 1GB data add-on for just S$3 per month.

Consumers can also sign up for Viu's premium service at CAST to enjoy the latest Korean and Japanese entertainment at the same prices.

How good can those deals get?

As a mom to a pre-schooler and a teenager (and also as someone who is addicted loves watching Korean dramas, sssshhh that's a secret ok? LOL), I am particularly sold with:
  • KIDS PACK - Features the Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels along with popular programmes susch as SpoongeBob SquarePants, Paw Patrol, Shimmer & Shine, and more. The Kids Pack on CAST is also the only place to get access to full range of games and shows on the all-new, Emmy Award-winning Nickelodeon Play app.
  • VIU PREMIUM service - Offers the widest range of the latest Korean drama and variety shows such as Entourage, Jealousy Incarnate and Love in the Moonlight. Viu Premium subscribers can enjoy privileges such as unlimited download, priority viewing with English and Chinese subtitles as fast as eight hours after original telecast, full HD, and uninterrupted viewing in the Viu app.

Why would you need a Kids Pack when you are actually encouraging your children to unplugged more, you may ask? Let me elaborate. As I've mentioned in my side story, we wander around town very often and we also travel at least twice or thrice a year. The Kids Pack will definitely help save my sanity as and when G decides to throw a tantrum while we are on-the-go.

"Are we there yet?", "Are we there yet? Why so long???" Now, try to repeat that 1000 times. Sounds very familiar? Yes, that's hashtagged #lifewithatoddler or #lifewithapreschooler in my case. I do bring drawing materials and books when we travel around town or overseas but when the train, bus, taxi or aeroplane is shaky, letting your kids' watch their favourite shows over a limited period of time will save your day.

What do G love about the Kids Pack and Nickelodeon Play app? Well, he basically likes most of the shows at Nick Jr. and Nickelodeon channels but his current favourites are SpongeBob SquarePants (explains why he's wearing that oversized yellow shirt), Paw Patrol, Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks, and Zack and Quack. My girl helped him collate the said shows under FAVOURITES, so all he need is to click the FAVOURITE button when he wants to watch.

When he doesn't feel like watching full episodes of his favourite shows , he also have lots of choices on what games to play. Oh well, you might have guessed already, he loves to play the Which SpongeBob SquarePants Character Are You? Other choices of games include What's Your Ninja Weapon, Scratch It, Pop It and many more.

Viu Premium is every K-Pop and Korean drama fanatic (like my girl and yours truly respectively) must-have. Need I say more? Absolutely not!

Now I leave you to view more photos from the event as I excuse myself to have my much needed rest, otherwise I will be a panda-eyed mommy again tomorrow!

Thank you so much for the invite Singtel and Nickelodeon! The kids had a blast playing the games (online and offline) during the event and of course, G was so stoked to watch SpongeBob and Patrick perform on the stage and even have a photo opp with them after the show. In fact, the event was just a prelude to our fun day out.

It was our first time visiting Kidzania so even though we were actually on an sponsored family staycation at D' Resort, we left quite late as we had a hard time convincing the kids to leave. Kidzania is a different kind of kids' heaven! My kids tried many jobs and earned a living for the first time! You can imagine how wide-eyed and impressed they are!
